Recommendation 2

Securities Systems must allow the option of network access on an interactive basis. They should cope with peak capacity without any service degradation, and have sufficient standby capabilities to recover operations in a reasonably short period within each processing day.

1. How often, over the last twelve months, has the depository been required to:  
 
  • Change its published settlement timetable?
Once, due to the exchange settlement cycle change from T+5 to T+3.
The Depository also maintains a data information system that allows remote access to information.
 
  • Extend the time of opening for settlement input by users?
Extensions have not been publicly informed.
 
  • Delay start of day processing?
No delays have been reported.
2. Does the depository operate real time or multiple batch processing for settlement? No the depository does not have real time settlement but it has two batch settlement cycles: 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
3. Does the depository allow interactive communication (on line real time) with its users, enabling settlement input and amendment? No, the depository does not have online real time communications with its users enabling settlement input and amendment. The depository receives the trade details through each transfer slip (physical). Nevertheless, it maintains an information system which enables participants remote access to trade details, such as trade status, amount of shares, counterparty's name.
4. Has the depository ever failed to recover an outage within the day or failed to start processing runs for a whole day; and, if so, when did that failure arise and what steps have been taken to prevent a similar event in the future? No, the depository has not failed to recover and outage within the day or failed to start processing runs for a whole day.
